WhAt'S yOuR sKiN tYpE???

Skin care is just as essential to our skin as food is to us. But a wrong skin care routine can do much more harm than good. For that, we need to identify our skin type properly.
People have many myths in this context. I'd love to clarify the famous ones.

Myth 1It's abnormal for your skin to change with time.
It actually isn't. It's quite normal for your skin to change throughout the year in fact. Skin is extremely susceptible to many factors like the season, your diet, the area where you stay, and the regular changes that take place in a woman's body and of course on your stress levels. Do not panic, a slight change in your skin routine would save you!

Myth 2:Every person has just one type of skin.
Hardly anyone has just one skin type. A woman who has oily skin, can have skin that's sensitive too and a woman who has dry skin, can have skin that's acne-prone. Just by conforming yourself to one skin type, and buying a range of products accordingly would be a foolish thing to do. All the symptoms are to be taken into consideration and then products have to be chosen.

The major skin types are given below, mix and match and identify your types of skin.
Types of skin

1.Oily Skin symptoms:
  • pimples, blackheads and whiteheads.
  • large pores.
  • shiny look on your face when you wake up(specially on your forehead and nose to chin).
  • foundation wears off in couple of hours.
   Plus points:
Your skin is always well moisturized.
You'll have fewer wrinkles as you age unlike other ladies.
   Minus points:
Your skin overproduces sebum and makes it look oily.
You're more prone to break outs as sebum has tendency
to mix with dead skin cells in the pores and  create
   pimples.

2.Dry Skin symptoms:
  • itchy or tight feel after cleansing of skin.
  • rough, flaky or red patches.
  • no acne throughout
  • sensitive to sun, wind and cold.
  • dull complexion.
   Plus points:
   Your skin looks great.
Your skin has fine pores and a clear surface.
   Minus points:
Skin doesn't produce enough moisture and sebum.
It makes you uncomfortable and your skin rough to touch.

3.Combination Skin symptoms:
  • dry cheeks, oily or pimple-prone T-zone.
  • perimeter of face is oily or pimple-prone but dry everywhere else.
  • products are good for one part of face and hurt the other part.
   Plus points:
As it contains both dry and oily parts in the face, it reflects same
qualities as of dry and oily skin types respectively.
   Minus points:
T-zone contains more oil glands than the rest of the face.
Wrong products can cause oily parts to turn oilier and dry parts to
   turn drier.

4.Sensitive Skin symptoms:
  • easily skin gets irritated.
  • red or blotchy skin
  • allergic reactions to some beauty products
  • easy sunburn
  • broken capillaries beneath the skin's surface
   Minus points:
It's nothing but negative reaction to outside factors like wind, sun
overexposure, allergies to some products and overzealous
   scrubbing.

5.Hyperpigmented Skin symptoms:
  • Dark spots due to bug bites, pimples or rashes
  • dark moles
  • easy freckling in the sun
  Minus points:
Hyperpigmentation is darkening of skin in patches or all over.
When such skin is subjected to inflammation, after the
inflammation subsides, dark spots are left on the skin and these
marks do not fade away for a pretty long time, sometimes even
  some years.

6.Normal Skin symptoms:
  • supple looking skin with or without moisturizer.
  • few or no breakouts
  • no irritation caused by any product
  • even skin tone
   Plus points:
There's nothing you need to worry about!
